ZipperQ is a family-friendly event that includes a BBQ competition and public tasting. Attendees also experience live music and kids games. Sponsorship is a great way for your company to get exposure in the community, entertain key clients, reward employees and support the International FOP Association which funds research to find a cure for FOP while supporting individuals and their families through education, public awareness and advocacy. ZipperQ will be held at the Claremore Expo Center in the west parking lot on Saturday, October 7th. Gates open at 3p and tasting from tons of amazing barbecue teams starts at 4p. Tasting kits are $10 each for all you can eat! You can also purchase a ZipperQ cup for $10 and enjoy plenty of cold beer along with your barbecue. This year's ZipperQ will feature live music from The Bison, one of Claremore's favorite local acts! Admission to the event, as well as kids' games and parking, are free. You can also purchase raffle tickets for a Hasty Bake grill! ZipperQ started in Claremore 11 years ago, as a fundraiser for the hunt for a cure for Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, or FOP. Claremore's Zip Gordon was diagnosed with the rare genetic disease in 2011. He is one of only 800 cases in the world. Because it's such a rare condition, the fundraising efforts are minimal; the only dollars in the search for a cure come from the families affected. That's why ZipperQ is so important! This particular event hit the million dollar mark of dollars raised in 2019. The answer for a cure is getting closer, so let's help make it happen, Claremore!
